Hi (odd thread subject for this topic...), > -download ISO to c:\fdbootcd.iso > -create bootdisk > -boot from bootdisk, which should find the ISO file automatically.
This is okay if you have a way to copy the ISO... Or if you have a (even non-bootable is okay) CD-ROM drive... > I'd rather download a 1.44Mb file and just grab the file > (or files) I need. Then you should get: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/beta9sr1/disksets/1440KB/ - b9boot01 to boot and start the install process - b9base01 with the first half of the files ("disks 1..4") - b9base02 with the second half ("disks 5..8") of the files Three diskettes and still everything from FreeDOS "base" category except sources (which are in "s9base0*" files). This gives you what is misleadingly called a "mini" install, as opposed to "full", which would mean "with sources". I think Blair has a better naming scheme - his 100 MB ISO is really FULL with all programs and the 200 MB ISO which has programs AND sources has a name which suggests exactly that... Alternatively, get the 1 diskette ODIN distro (Geraldo is working on an update for it!) here: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/beta9sr1/disksets/ODIN/ You have to delete the dummy fdconfig sys to "unlock" config sys, as far as I remember, which is a really confusing and pointless problem, but as long as you know it... Note that all beta 9 sr 1 based files are quite outdated, so you may want to get newer ISOs (from Blair, or the Fritz one which is mentioned on http://www.freedos.org/ start page) or newer ODIN (from Geraldo) instead. I hope they read the list and can email you about which version you should download from which URL for that. If you have Linux, you can just use mtools and dd to manipulate (FAT filesystem) disk images and to create diskettes from them :-).
