Please can someone tell me what is happening with drive letter re-assignment.  I started from fdos1440.img and from odin1440.img (0.72) with similar results.  And also starting from a floppy disk or from a cd running in fd emulation to make it bootable.
I run fdisk to create 3 partitions on my harddrive, a 22Mb bootable, a 3Gb bootable and a 5Gb, all primary partitions.  I want fdos on the 22Mb, and then I want XP with a multiboot on the 3Gb (eventually to be turned into an Xpe).  Having activated the 22Mb it becomes C: in FDisk, and has Command.com and kernel.sys.
Now, if I try to boot directly from the HD, the preamble lists the drive correctly, but Command.com is not found.  When I point to a copy on A:, then I find that C: (where he system is looking for command.com) is actually the 5Gb partition, and neither of the other HD partitions are visible at all.
If I start from the floppy disk with fdos1440.img then it all appears to work properly until I remove the floppy drive (external USB drive) and then the 5Gb partition becomes C: and doesn't have command.com on it.
Please, how do I get the system to simply boot consistently from the one active partition that actually has fdos on it?
exasperatedly,
Justin
