For Windows I use http://tftpd32.jounin.net/ Furthermore you need a boot image placed on the TFTP server. Client needs to be able to boot from network (network interface card with bootrom on it or in BIOS).
http://syslinux.zytor.com/pxe.php is what I follow usually. Server --> TFTP program --> pxelinux --> memdisk --> bootdisk image --> Client's networkcard and machine. > Has anyone here successfully PXE-booted FreeDOS? > Done so before, in VMware. Planning to do the same again sometime soon, when new hardware arrives. http://www.veder.com/nwdsk/index.html is a nice bootdisk image, and testing PXE functionality is easiest with Memtest as payload (rather than memdisk + dos bootdisk image). btw don't take WinME (winXP's bootdisk) on your bootdisk image, its kernel doesn't like non-local boots. Extending functionality of the network booted image can be done using packet drivers, ndis drivers, ramdisk drivers, etc. Even Win9x can be booted over the network (but can't find the link anymore, an old C'T computermagazine article) > It's been over 10 years since I had to set up tftp and network-booting > on a server, so I don't know that I can help this guy.
