Yes.  Load xgcdrom or something first, then load aspi.sys.  Using
devload worked fine for me.

Well I tested xgcdrom/aspi on a real machine here, and it worked
(DVD+-RW drive), so at least on my system it works for a real system.
I have not tested it in a virtual environment.
