Yes, I remember the video. It was really cool to see Windows running in Enhanced mode on FreeDOS! :-) [..] > Kernel version 2044 exists since 2023-12-02. > > Since then, we basically have been waiting for people to TEST > the improved kernel, while Jeremy, Tom and ECM and others have > worked on yet more news. This is news to me. Bernd mentioned on the get-together that Jeremy was working out some issues in the new kernel, but I didn't know there was a release that people should test. Are you one of the "we" who "have been waiting for people to TEST the improved kernel"? Where have you shared this announcement? I haven't seen it on freedos-devel, which is where we should share announcements like this, so *everyone* who works on FreeDOS can see it. Or have you emailed only a few people to ask them to test it in private? (If so, that's not very "open." Please share these announcements with freedos-devel.) > > Later on, you give a verbose description of how FreeDOS > alas "does not" run Win3 in 386enh mode, but proceed to > say that an experimental kernel which DOES support 386enh > EXISTS, but still needs more testing. > > What would be a better way to GET that testing than to > include exactly that new kernel in the rolling release? If what you said (above) is true and there's a new kernel version that should be tested, it should get included in the monthly test releases. That's why we have the test release.
