Well, you could probably do this (roughly outlined, not step by step): 1) Create the USB install media again. 2) On a separate machine, Use a utility like GPARTED to expand the partition to the entire USB drive. (there are bootable CD versions of GPARTED available). 3) Simply copy the packages directory from the BonusCD to a new directory on the USB stick (like BONUS_CD). 4) Make sure you download the latest copy of FDIMPLES and place it on the USB stick as well. 5) Boot that USB stick on the FreeDOS machine. 6) Update the installed version of FDIMPLES on your HDD with the new downloaded version. 7) you can then copy that entire new bonus package directory to the HDD. 8) Reboot without the USB. 9) Start FDIMPLES giving it the BonusCD package directory. 10) Install and remove stuff. (or… This alternative can be easier or harder. If not done correctly, packages may install to the USB drive or be improperly installed on the hard drive. Resulting in the inability to use the package manager to remove them. Basically, in part it is what the FreeDOS installer does when installing from USB. ) 7) Modify the \FREEDOS\BIN\FDNPKG.CFG file to use drive remapping. 8) adjust your DOSDIR environment variable settings to the internal drive. 9) Run the new version of FDIMPLES giving it the packages in the BonusCD directory on the USB drive. 10) Reboot without the USB stick and use the stuff installed. Or, Depending on what Aspire One you have, you might be able to do this: If you have a SD CARD slot (like on the Aspire One I have), you may be able to write the USB Installer to an SD Card and copy the BonusCD to a Flash Drive. I noticed on my D250-1924 Aspire One that I can boot with both installed. When that happens, the BIOS boots from the SD-CARD as drive C:. Plus maps the USB stick and Hard Disk for drives under DOS. It was rather neat. :-) Jerome > > _______________________________________________ > Freedos-user mailing list > Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user _______________________________________________ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
