Thanks very much Eric, I'll get a PC spec'd up with a motherboard I've been
recommended!

Thanks - Paul

Yes it will. You confused AMD with ARM. FreeDOS will run on AMD CPU and I have
an AMD based PC with FreeDOS :-)

It will not run directly on ARM hardware, which includes devices like most
Android smartphones and tablets. You can run DOS in emulators on such hardware,
though ;-)

Raspberry Pi, for example, use Broadcom System-on-a-Chip with ARM processor
architecture.

People have tried to build DOS compatible CSM for UEFI, but this is still very
experimental. Because UEFI is not a BIOS, you have to load additional modules
(CSM) to implement the BIOS functionality required to natively run DOS.

Until a few years ago, most computers still gave you the choice between booting
"legacy" BIOS and modern UEFI based operating systems. Recently, computers
without BIOS support became the norm. You cannot easily run DOS directly on
such hardware, no matter which brand of processor it includes.
