Generally speaking, NVMe storage drives are not accessible via BIOS calls (they need to be communicated with via PCIe or UEFI). FreeDOS is only able to access storage mediums accessible via BIOS calls. I'm curious how you got your BIOS to make the NVMe drive visible to FreeDOS in your initial install attempt.
I modified a Dell Optiplex 9020 to boot off NVMe but the drive isn't visible to my FreeDOS USB install drive.
