Hello,
I am using the latest version of freefonts available from official
Debian and Ubuntu repos. LibreOffice and Firefox renderes Malayalam in a
broken way while using fonts from freefont. The dangerous part is,
freefont is given preference over Malayalam-first fonts in some
applications, which means the system cannot render Malayalam correctly
even though it has good up-to-date Malayalam fonts installed on it.
When asked, Santhosh Thottingal (http://thottingal.in/), a font expert,
said that freefont has outdated Malayalam subset and I should be
reporting it.
I request the developers to take this issue seriously. Please update the
set or release a newer version with Malayalam totally removed.
