IPs
so in our case it would be a freeipa server that 100% detached from the Windows

create all users manually on the freeipa with new passwords

Forget it! What you could do is use a separate domain for IPA but still
put servers in the domain you are used to. You will lose Kerberos
functionality but the rest should work. This is how we deal with
hundreds of legacy servers...
