You can use
sudo update-alternatives --config sudo
to switch.
Correct. Ubuntu switched to new sudo-rs implementation which didn't
have support for externally-provided sudoers information. We worked
together with sudo-rs upstream this year to allow sourcing sudoers over
UNIX domain socket but SSSD yet to provide its part.
