Hi Al,
I finally got to freeipmi porting again (I was on my first vacation this
year .. finally :)). I 'd use a bit of your help (if you can spare some
time):
1. under which license is freeipmi distributed? i fail to spot any
mention 'bout licensing
2. i am a bit confused about the tarball distribution - it seems to me
that it contains only source files and it has to be re-compiled on a
end-user machine, right? if yes, see 3.
3. is there a target that would create a distribution archive containing
only all compiled files (for a certain platform)?
Thx,
Michal

Great ... I will let you know about the status of the package porting.
It seems that we have couple of boxes with sunbmc driver :-P .. at
least I have "bmc listed under /dev/bmc". I will let you know about
the progress of testing/porting .. ideally, the package should be
ready for snv_107.

Hey Michal,

Cool.
Honestly, the build ran out-of-box (I've just checked out freeipmi
from CVS and build it).
That's good :-)
Did you make some adjustments in the code regarding the Solaris OS?
Yes, the 0.7.0 does have changes for Solaris. They were all generic
porting issues between *nix systems. Solaris uses a different number of
arguments to gethostbyname_r, the argp parsing library didn't exist on
solaris, a whole bunch of strXXX() functions weren't on solaris, various
Makefile tweaks for portability, etc.
The sunbmc driver has not been tested at all in FreeIPMI 0.7.0. So if
you have a system with that driver, it'd be good to see if FreeIPMI
0.7.0 implements things correctly.
Thanks,
Al

Hi Al,
no, not at all - I primary work on other task, while porting
freeipmi to opensolaris is a side-task (but important). Well, I'd be
glad if I can co-operate with you regarding this - my effort is to
create a OpenSolaris package for freeipmi and make this package
available in OpenSolaris package repositories ..
So far I was able tried to build freeipmi on a OpenSolaris box (as a
part of opensolaris build process ..) but I have not tested the
functionality. Honestly, the build ran out-of-box (I've just checked
out freeipmi from CVS and build it). Did you make some adjustments
in the code regarding the Solaris OS?

Hey Michal,
I hope you didn't do too much work, I did porting for Solaris in the
FreeIPMI 0.7.0 :-) (hopefully released in a month or so). You can
download the beta off the webpage.
PRobably I have overlooked something ..
I did a quick check, and FreeIPMI 0.7.0 does properly "make dist"
on my
system (SunOS 5.11). Maybe you'll want to give it a crack instead?

Hi guys,
I'm trying to port freeipmi to OpenSolaris - build is not a
problem, but I need to transfer the built stuff (ideally some kind
of installation binaries) to other host to test them. I have tried
"make dist" and I thought that the produced tarball containsed all
necessary stuff to just do "make install" on other host, but to my
surprise it did not.
PRobably I have overlooked something ..
