If the passwords are built with alphabet letters and digits only (ca 64 different characters => 6 bits pro character), passwords up to length of 9 are covered: by a brutal force attack the short passwords length seems to be the main risk.
We could however introduce a option of using the TrippleDES as an additional feature, which still has to be specified and implemented. Personally I have no interest in it.
