Everyone,
It's easy to get upset when corresponding by email. You can't see
someone's face to gauge reactions to your comments, you can't use tone
of voice to interpret. I've seen situations where everyone meant well
blow up because of misinterpretations.
In the Mythical Man Month, Fred Brooks observes that throughout his
career at IBM it was true, statistically, that every code change had
about a fifty percent chance of introducing a new bug. It's just the
nature of our business. So, please, be patient with others when they
make a mistake, even if it seems obvious to you. We all have different
levels of knowledge of the software and of our craft, and we all make
mistakes, even on our best days. (See, now someone can misinterpret
this and believe I've just called everyone a screw up. Email is perilous!)
I did report the problem with preferences not opening when I was running
under Eclipse. What Dimitry did fixed that problem, but I didn't know
the system well enough to see that it broke something else. If nothing
else, though, we now know more about it, so it will be easier to
implement the correct fix.

What went wrong?
Preferences Dialog could not be opened. We have got many requests but
could not reproduce the problem. Ray has submitted following log:
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0"
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot set a boolean to null
at
freemind.common.ThreeCheckBoxProperty.setValue(ThreeCheckBoxProperty.java:108)
at
freemind.preferences.layout.OptionPanel.setProperties(OptionPanel.java:162)
.....
I have thought that the differences in auto.properties could be a
reason. So I have removed my auto.properties and have seen that ptoperty
remind_use_rich_text_in_new_long_nodes set to null course the troubles.
I have used the standard solution: if the property is not found, put it
into the property file.
Why did you change something without asking me thus removing a feature?
Dimitry, I don't want that you continue this way.
Chris, we have exactly the same rights and similar backgrounds. If you
and Dan do not stop speaking to me like chefs, I shall leave the project
and start my own one. Everyone have made some mistakes, and if you can
not tolerate those of me, I shall not tolerate yours.
Best regards, Dimitry
