with have a feature freeze, with exceptions allowed by me.

I think the notes should behave just like long nodes, meaning it should be
possible to have some notes in plain text while other notes in rich text, in
one map.

Put differently, the rationale for having both plain and rich text nodes
within one map applies not only to *nodes* but also to *notes*, IMHO.
