Dear Dan,
new version is under testversions in my local sf directory. Please test
them.

Dear Chris,
shame and blame on me. I have now noticed that the wrong copyright
notice also appears in the about box of FreeMind, accessible from the
menu Help > About.
Could you please also correct all the things there, including:
(a) Year range,
(b) Copyright mark (see also the 0.9.0 series for how to enter the
proper copyright mark)
(c) The list of major contributors.
I do not know how to compensate you for this additional work,
resulting from my inattentive previous review.
Best regards,
Dan

Dear Chris,
the minimum version as downloadable from SourceForge is all right now.
But the maximum version still has the "(c)" string, and it has the
year 2008 instead of the 2000-2008 range.. Could you please also
replace the maximum version with a corrected variant?
Is it possible that you have already uploaded a corrected version
of the max version, just that the SourceForge servers do not yet
show it? In any case, I will try again later today, and also
tomorrow, to see whether the corrected version of the maximum
version of FreeMind is already there.
Best regards,
Dan

Dear Chris,
the copyright mark looks perfectly okay now; the year range is exactly
as
I
asked for; thanks a lot.
Best regards,
Dan

Hi Dan,
I tried it again. Perhaps it is better:

In fact, I generated the max version the same way, so it should work...
Please, tell me, if the copyright is now ok.
Thanks,
Chris

Dear Chris,
thanks a lot. I have now tested the adjusted versions.
I hate to say this, but the "(c)" sequence is a poor replacement for the
original copyright mark. The U.S. copyright law does not acknowledge the
"(c)" sequence.
I understand that you have chosen this quick fix because of the
limitation
of Wine, which you are using to emulate Windows environment in Linux. Is
there a possibility that Dimitry could produce the correct versions,
with
the proper copyright mark, given he is on Windows? Or could I perhaps do
it?
Does it suffice that I check out certain version of FreeMind from CVS
and
then compile it using Eclipse, choosing a proper target? I would do it
if
you shortly advise me on how to do it.
When you are going to change the copyright mark, could you please also
change the date of the copyright, which I have overlooked before? The
correct year range is 2000-2008 instead of just 2008; different parts of
the
product are copyrighted in different years.
I am willing to do all that myself, if you shortly point me out the way.
Interestingly, in the Windows max installer for 0.8.1 that you have
produced, the copyright mark was all right; only the min installer had
it
broken. Is this perhaps because you have produced the maximum version of
installer on Windows instead of using Wine? Anyway.
Best regards,
Dan

Dear Dan,
done. Can anybody check the new windows installers, please.
(By the way, I replaced the (C) sign by the (c) sequence, as my wine
seems to process them wrong. This should be ok, or?)

Dear Christian,
I have just started to install FreeMind 0.8.1 on Windows and found the
following three non-technical issues, pertaining probably both to the
max
Windows installer and the min Windows installer.
CONTRIBUTORS
The installer screen reads, at the top left corner, "FreeMind", and at
the bottom right corner, "Copyright (C) 2008 Christian Foltin, Dimitry
Polivaev and others."
Why are not all the major contributors of code not mentioned? These
are
AFAIK:
- Jörg Müller
- Daniel Polansky
- Petr Novak
- Christian Foltin
- Dimitry Polivaev
as documented on the home page of FreeMind.
COPYRIGHT MARK
At the bottom right corner, there is actually not the proper copyright
mark but a mesh of three characters. This is not so with the installer
for
0.7.1 and 0.8.0.
PROJECT GOVERNANCE
The installer reads:
The current project director: Daniel Polansky, the current project
managers: Christian Foltin and Dimitry Polivaev.
But Dimitry Polivaev is not a project manager. Please, kindly remove
Dimitry Polivaev.
Also, please avoid the German-styled ":" and use the complete
sentences
like the following.
"The current project director is Daniel Polansky, while the current
project manager is Christian Foltin".
TECHNICAL ISSUES
There are no technical issues with the installers.
Thank you for correcting these issues in both the minimal and maximal
installers for Windows.
Best regards,
Daniel
