I think you are mistaken about what the FDL allows. Publishing for profit
is certainly allowed, just as selling GPL software for profit is allowed.
Only non-free derivative works are restricted, and if you make and
distribute more than X number of hard copies you must provide "transparent
machine readable" copies online for some specified amount of time.
