Pretty hardcore dude! It can relate to it being pretty scary
when it doesn't want to reboot after a power cycle. That
might have happened to me too a few times. :^) Think
you want to wait until the power supplies juices down
before cycling the power button on again. Otherwise
the system might come up in a "warm boot" scenario,
and if you corrupted something, this would explain
the lock-up.
Once I was playing with a Windows system (don't tell
anybody) and the machine had one of those solenoid
driven power switches which could be disabled via
software. When Windows crashed (because it had been
at least an hour of uptime already) the freeken switch
wouldn't work 'cause the driver that controled the
power switched was hosed. It was really frustrating
to crawl beneath the desk to pull the cord out of the
wall to reboot the machine. :^(
