How about doing something with our good friend Tux the Penguin? :) I know
this isn't a linux specific thing, but neither are a lot of the other
projects that use tux in some logo. And then I was thinking in the lines
of a tux inside another tux that is slightly transparent. If noone wants
tux, we could maybe do the same with a picture of a x86-CPU? Just some
ideas.
