Change your users-file, not the dictionary. It is highly un-advisable
to change the dictionary file entries unless you really know what you are
doing. If you change the wrong thing, as you've discovered, you'll break
the server completely.
Make a copy of your 'users' file. Change it to match the dictionary
entries with freeradius.
