Performance. A thread enabled server is able to handle a much greater
number of requests.
Also, the default behaviour is to use threads, so that is the configuration
that all the developer's use ( to my knowledge ). It is possible that
some things may not be fully functional in the non-threaded version, as
that doesn't receive as much attention as the threaded version.
