about debian package

Hello, I'm trying to build a debian package for freeradius-0.2 but there are 2 problems   1st there is no initscript /the one placed in /etc/init.d directory with name freeradius/ in debian direcotry /it is not big problem and can be written by hand / redhat has initscript   2nd problem is that the debuild is writing version number "?" so dpkg-deb is exiting with error unkown version and this is the problem where i need some help
