Without re-pasting the entire previous message, a quick note. When we were
getting this working originally with xtradius, XT had a problem where when
passing the Chap-Password and Chap-Challenge to an external script it would
mangle the vars. They fixed this via a patch in a later release which made
it work fine. This may be our issue currently with freeradius?
I haven't seen anyone on the list yet running CHAP authentication via an
external script (or I missed it), so perhaps nobody has noticed yet.
Oh yes, and for the record, passwords are stored plain-text! ;)
