If I
were your bank customer, and you were transmitting my financial information over
point-to-point ISDN or asynchronous dialup connections using IP as your network
layer protocol; encryption would be just as important to me as authentication,
authorization, and accounting. It may even be my primary concern--I don't
want my personal junk in cleartext on any network.
