That's a guideline. The documentation for that setting says you can set it to large values, without too much trouble. So you're getting worried over something that really isn't important. > In this situation what is a client: > > (1) is it number of NAS being serviced by the RADIUS server -or- RADIUS clients. i.e. NAS. > (2) is it number of dial-in customers -or- > (3) is it number of dial-in ports which are serviced by a RADIUS server? THINK for a second. The documentation for that entry says things like "if you have 4 clients..." Would ANYONE in their right mind run a full-blown RADIUS server for 4 users, or only 4 dial-in ports? > relationship. If that is true, then Clients will be number of NAS on the > system. The maximum number of connections in a NAS doesn't matter. If you care to know why, read the RFC's. There are NASes with 1000 ports, which work fine with RADIUS. > You have said that you do know the answer but you can't explain better than > the book. From my explanation above, I do not think the O'Rielly RADIUS book > explains it at all. The question you asked was about "what is a RADIUS client". That is explained in the book. As it turns out, you wanted to know something completely different: what to use for max_requests. But it took a number of emails back and forth before you were willing to say that. I honestly don't know why it's so difficult for many people to describe what they want, rather than talking forever about unrelated issues. > SO, PLEASE, enlighten me!!! What is the answer?? I've answered your questions. Please don't ask any more questions unless you can do so in ONE message, and explain what you're interested in. Having an exchange of 4-5 messages before you actually ask the real question is ridiculous, and means that your messages will get deleted unread. Alan DeKok. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe?
