Might be stating the obvious in which case I apologies but ...
Have you tried running freeradius in debug mode and looking through the output ?
radiusd -xx

Hi,
Well it seems to be easy for you but I'm totally new to Radius in general
and I don't know what to do next.
So here is what I did so far:
I have modified the client.conf file in the following way:
client <ip-address> {
secret = <my secret>
shortname =<my shortname>
nastype = cisco (not quite sure if that is right also tried other)
}
I have included the dictionaries dictionary.cisco and dictionary.cisco.bbsm
I set the port of my hotspot server to 1812(same as on my freeRadius)
I have created some users in the users file.(I don't know for sure what to
use as Auth-type
I debugged the server:
Layer 3 communication between the radius client and server is working just
fine. The Hotspot in general is working, too(tried already other
authentication methods).
I am able to authenticate myself locally but I can't get any connection to
my hotspot server.
I am always willing to learn so if you have any proposals where I can
improve my knowledge I will try to work on that(I have yet worked my way through
RFC 2865, read the docs and the explanations in the configuration files, also
some of the faq).
