OK, the good news is we're well on track.

For the month of April, the developers of FreeRADIUS will be
focussing on stabilisation and bug-fixing of FreeRADIUS to
prepare for releasing version 1.0.0.

What we would like you, the users, to do be diligent in
reporting bugs into Bugzilla (http://bugs.freeradius.org) so
we know what problems you're having. We're particularly focussed
on bugs in the current CVS snapshots
ftp://ftp.freeradius.org/pub/radius/CVS-snapshots/
until we start the 1.0.0 pre-release cycle.

If all goes well, we will branch freeradius 1.0.0 at the beginning
of May, and produce a series of 1.0.0-preX releases for _everyone_
to hammer upon, even those terrified of CVS snapshots. I'm hoping
to post Debian i386 packages of the various -preX versions, to make
it easy for everyone to test against. Presumably someone will knock
up packages for any other packaging systems around.

Again if all goes well, we will go through four prereleases in four
weeks and release 1.0.0 at the beginning of June.

So, here's a summary timeline:

Now
        Users report bugs.
Brave ("willing to compile") users test CVS Snapshots.
Beginning of May
CVS branch for FreeRADIUS 1.0 is created.
FreeRADIUS 1.0.0-pre0 is released, packages are created, and
users are encouraged to _really_ hammer upon it. This means
                you, users of esoteric systems!
As bugs are fixed, -pre1 and such are released.
Beginning of June, barring unforseen circumstances
FreeRADIUS 1.0.0 ships! This version comes under strict version
management, and new and interesting features go into CVS HEAD
again, for brave ("willing to compile") users to play with.

So, that's the plan.

What, you wanted bad news to with the good news? Sorry, I haven't got any. :-)
