Another data point -

  Trying to follow the examples given in variables.txt and using the 
'users' file, things like:

DEFAULT User-Name =~ "^([^/]+)/(.*)",
        Everything = `%{0}`,
        Test-Variable = `%{2}`,
        Fall-Through = yes
causes a core dump on startup.
