Hello all,

I'm brand new to freeradius and only just learning OpenBSD, the worst of all possible combinations.  I could use some help with this issue.

I'm trying to install freeradius on OpenBSD3.0.

When I tried to ./configure freeradius I got the following warning messages:

checking for snmpget... no

configure: warning: snmpget not found Simultaneous-use and checkrad.pl may not work

checking for snmpwalk... no

configure: warning: snmpwalk not found Simultaneous-use and checkrad.pl may not work

and also

configure: error: -lsem not found. You may want to download it from ftp://ftp.to..gd-es.com/pub/GSDI/libsem.tar.bz2 or ftp://ftp.freeradius.org/pub/radius/contrib/libsem.tar.gz.

Downloaded the tar.gz file referenced, copied to /steve and did a make install. Everything seemed ok. However, when I went back and again tried to ./configure in /steve/freeradius-0.9.2 I observed the same result.

A web search revealed that Im not the first to have this problem, but I couldnt find a clear English description of the solution (assuming there is one). I found one guy who said "Build the library and hack the freeradius Makefile to link with it and should be able to build with threads." I looked at the Makefile and didnt see what to hack. I found several references to libsem.a, which I have in my /usr/local/lib and /steve/libsem directories.

I go back to the output of the ./configure command and observe that the program indicates that it fails when it doesnt find a library containing "sem_init".

Can anybody give me a hint?

It would be much appreciated.  Thanks for taking the time to read this one.

Best,

Steve
