I'm proud to announce the release of version 1.0.0. It's been a
long time coming, and has been delayed a few weeks.

The developers and the users have worked together to create a server
which rivals many commercial servers, and often exceeds their
capabilities. The server is fast, flexible, and can scale down from
embedded systems, to systems with millions of users.

The web site has gone through a re-write of many sections. I hope
that it's clearer, and that information is a little easier to find.
As the next versions of the server come out, we also hope to increase
the number of "man" pages, the documentation, and the "how-to's".

As the web page now says, we believe that FreeRADIUS is one of the
top 5 RADIUS servers world-wide. Thanks to everyone for the work
they've put into it.

The 1.0.0 release is essentially the -pre3, with a few very minor
changes. There are fixes pending for a few problems people have run
into, and I hope to accelerate the release cycle from here on in.

  As for availability, see:

Again, thanks to everyone for their help, and for their patience.
It's not easy creating a world-class RADIUS server, but we've
succeeded.

  Alan DeKok.
