PHP Not Connecting to MySQL Database

I think I have tracked my dialup admnin problem to PHP not being able to 
connect to the MySQL database. Looking in Httpd Error logs I get the 
following error message

"PHP Warning:  Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php4/mysql.so' - 
libmysqlclient.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or 
directory in Unknown on line 0".

Your help will be appreciated.
