same for me. Not just an rpm problem: the subdir $PREFIX/lib isn't created by "make install". If you install from source, the workaround is to try a make install, then go into $PREFIX and create the directory lib by hand, then again issuing "make install". But this is something that should be fixed in the Makefile properly...
