Well, changing it to MD5-Password results in

-------------
rlm_sql (sql): No matching entry in the database for request from user
[username]
modcall[authorize]: module "sql" returns notfound for request 5
modcall: leaving group authorize (returns ok) for request 5
  rad_check_password: Found Auth-Type PAP
auth: type "PAP"
Processing the authenticate section of radiusd.conf
modcall: entering group PAP for request 5
rlm_pap: login attempt by "username" with password password
rlm_pap: No password (or empty password) to check against for for user
username
modcall[authenticate]: module "pap" returns invalid for request 5
modcall: leaving group PAP (returns invalid) for request 5
auth: Failed to validate the user.
------------

I already tried that.
