Please explain why you would prefer to follow third-party instructions that talk about a version YEARS out of date. Even if it *is* referenced in doc/rlm_sql, it's obvious what you did. You installed the server, and then BEFORE trying to see if it works, you spent a lot of time mangling the installation. It's like buying a car, and then tearing it to pieces because the fat kid down the street gave you some "cool ideas". If the car doesn't work after that, don't complain to the dealership.
