Iam having trouble compiling freeradius version 2.1.9 on ubuntu 10.04

libfreeradius-radius-2.1.9.so: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory
Try running ldconfig in the directory where the .so-file is.
Any help would be appreciated.
