It is definitely possible (server-initiated, not sure if client can initiate resize). Just login to terminal server, open Task manager, switch to "Users" tab, right click on any logged in user, which uses different screen resolution, and select "Remote control" - the mstsc window will be resized to match a resolution of that user.
