It's understandable that this is an opensource project and that you need to make a living aswell, so it makes sense that the project has began to cater to thinstuffs needs. I just wan't to warn you that letting thinstuff control the project though is definitely a bad idea.
It is truly shocking that Thinstuff has not been sued yet, and I can guarantee it most likely will happen and I don't want to see this fall back on FreeRDP. Thinstuff XPVS server is basically a theft of the Microsoft RDS and Citrix Terminal server. Thinstuff is using almost all of the core RDS files. In order to be able to do this they patched core RDS files to allow concurrent sessions, and to be able to interface with their own licensing server and I believe a listener. Basically all XPVS is a cracked version of RDS. Customers who unknowingly download XPVS are breaking Microsofts licensing policies, as it XPVS replaces the core TS files with patched versions. As stated earlier, XPVS uses all of the core Microsoft TS files except for a USB driver, licensing server, and a listener (not fully sure about the last one as I cannot remember off the top of my head). They are not using the new Protocol Provider API, they reversing RDS to make it work with their own branding- It can be compared to someone selling a cracked piece of software with a modified user interface - because that is pretty much what it is. They are well aware that this is against the law, against MS policies and is blatant theft of Microsofts IP, and it is a shame that they expose their customers to this. The funniest part about it is that why should users even bother to pay for XPVS since essentially they could use one of the many terminal services patcher applications to allow concurrent users since it essentially does the same thing(except for a rebranding)? Is it because they do this for them so it makes it okay? It isn't against licensing policies because you guys do it? No matter how you cut it, it is wrong. With that said this is a great project, and it needs to stay around. I just don't want to see this fall back on FreeRDP in any way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October Webinars: Code for Performance Free Intel webinars can help you accelerate application performance.
