Thanks Dario for the reply, unfortunately I did copy that file as well and still have a no go.

I have copied /etc/passwd /etc/master.passwd and /etc/pwd.db to customroot/etc.

I do a make clean; make iso and I cannot login as the user that I have created.
Also, I have tried to set the root passwd like so:

sandbox# chroot /usr/local/freesbie-fs/ /usr/bin/passwd root
Changing local password for root
New Password:
Retype New Password:
sandbox#

sandbox# cat /usr/local/freesbie-fs/etc/master.passwd

After I make the ISO and boot from this image, I type root at the login prompt and it gives me shell, no passwd. If I try to login as the user lee with my passwd no go.

After I log in as root I try to do passwd lee and the systems says there is no user lee.

Some bit of info is not getting cloned or something is getting written over during that process.

Thanks,

Lee

OK, I am like 99% done. I CANNOT get the passwd file to work.
I need to have a root password set for the image.
I have tried to chroot /usr/local/freesbie-fs/ /usr/bin/passwd root

This does not work.

I have also tried to copy the etc/pwd.db to customroot/etc/ and still
no luck.

Copy the master.passwd file in customroot/etc/ directory.

Bye,
Dario
