The list of libraries is in the README.Win32 included with my port. Here is
it:

You will need the following libraries tools to build freesci for Win32:
 * Visual C++ 5.0 or 6.0. (The projects provided are for version 6.0.
   Cygwin will be supported soon.)
 * glib for win32 (http://www.iki.fi/tml/gimp/win32/)
 * Hermes (http://hermes.terminal.at)
 * Libraries from Cygwin beta 20 (http://sourceware.cygnus.com).
   Specifically, you need to have include.tar.bz2, libiberty.tar.bz2,
   and readline.tar.bz2.
 * flex and bison from Cygwin beta 20
 * libpng (http://www.cdrom.com/pub/png/) and zlib
   (http://www.cdrom.com/pub/infozip/zlib/).

I've heard that mingw has some problems with multimedia support. Currently
the Win32 port doesn't have MIDI playback, so that's not a problem for now,
but it can cause troubles later.

Right now I don't have mingw, but I'll download it as soon as I have time.
Thanks for the link.

Hi

Great! I glad that you think that it is a good idea. The only reason why I'm
not fiddling with your Vis C++ port is because I don't have to money to buy
it... damn... (am talking about the software... not the port... lol)

AFAIK, the Vis C++ code should compile fine with mingw... as long as you
haven't used an special header files that microsoft provides... I also
assume that you are using all the libraries from the Linux port - yes/no?

It would probably be a good idea for you to post/send a list of the actual
libraries used with the win32 port... that way I can download them.

Was wondering if you had mingw in any form... I'm using the Dev-C++
distribution with very nice IDE (at least I think so... not as powerful as
Microsoft or Borland stuff, but quite sweet all the same). If you want to
check it out, www.bloodshed.nu (company site). Just go click on the big
Dev-C++ 3.95 link. It comes with the full distribution of mingw, packaged
especially so it works best with Dev-C++...

Anyway, got to run to class now...

Ian

Yes, it would definitely be good to have a freesci/Win32 port that can be
built using free tools. I'm much more used to Visual C++ than the GNU family
of compilers, and that's why I've chosen VC++, but I'm not sure it was the
right choice.

If you need some Win32-specific help, feel free to ask me.
