Okey dokey - got a plug from mingw mailing list... (sorry about how mucked up it is -
I have to run to class).
BTW, dev-c++ should have 2.95.2

That's really good idea. There's many opinions, for example some
orthodoxes think there can be GNU on Windows at all. I myself have
other funny opinion, that's really shame to develop GNU software with
non-GNU compiler after all, many GNU guys won't be able to use it, so please
take encouragement that using gnu-win32 at all, and mingw32 in
specific case, is really good.

The only way I can interpret this is that you're afraid there's
no full headers for Windows Multimedia subsystem functionality. But
that's probably not true. Latest stable release (2.95.2) has
'mmsystem.h', it sizes 68k, and have many occurances of string 'MIDI'.
So, since you don't have ready-made library, but going to develop it,
I guess you'll have little problems with it, and even if you'll have
some little, they will be easily fixed.

You're welcome, and I hope it helped a liitle.

AFAIK Mingw32 doesn't support native multimedia, you need SDL or other lib
to have sound support. Mingw's shell is awfully slow, Cygwin seems to
be a better alternative.
