there's now a plugin_dir configuration directive now.
Once I figure out how to (easily) make autoconf build stuff as
dlopen()-able .so files, I'll start to commit more stuff.

in layman's terms, freesci is going to a plugin architechure for
midiout, gfx, and soundserver components.  In other words, everything
that requires external libs like SDL or ggi.

It's going to greatly complicate the under-the-hood build process, but
it's necessary IMO.
