Hi,

after the CVS problems we experienced at the beginning of this month,
individual developers have mentioned performance or connection problems-
either occasional or at all times- with Alfred University.
Considering that the primary focus of this university is most probably not
to provide us with permanent CVS access, it seems unlikely that these
problems will be resolved in the near future.
It has therefore been suggested that we move our CVS hosting to a site
that provides better performance.

What are your opinions on this? Personally, I believe that it makes sense
to do this, but I'm not the only one using CVS here.

If we can agree on moving, the next question would be where we'd like to
move CVS hosting to.There are two sites that provide hosting for free
software projects that I'm aware of: Sourceforge, and a German site called
Berlios (http://www.berlios.de). I did some performance testing, which
seemed to indicate that CVS checkouts on SF were faster by about a factor
of 4 or 5, but my tests weren't very extensive. Are there any other sites
someone here can recommend?

If we move, it would be preferrable if the current CVS could be moved in
its entirety, i.e. with our complete history. Does anybody know if this is
possible on either of the two sites above (or on any other sites)?

Thanks in advance for any feedback,

llap,
 Christoph
