Okay - I know for sure that it hasn't worked for me in March. I also
downloaded the last official binary release (dated Jan 4 2002) and sound
output is working.

I have a "leftover build" in my camelot directory that is dated Jan 7 2002.
Sound works on it as well. I usually always update and check freesci with
Sq3, KQ1, and Camelot. I was updating pretty frequently in January, so I
would assume that it was sometime soon after January 7th that I did a new
compile, updated SQ3 (and didn't have sound), updated KQ1 (still no sound)
and therefore stopped before updating camelot because of the no sound issue.
(Therefore leaving the January 7th build in there that hasn't been
overwritten since)

I think it may have been around when PCM entered the picture. Hmm.

I can make absolutely no changes to my sound system setup or freesci config
file and switch back and forth between the working sound freesci and the
non-working sound freesci (on SQ3) - the January one *always* plays sound
and the latest compile never will. :(
