You can add control points to whichever volume you would like. The
control points will be saved in a text file as a list of coordinates, so
it does not matter what volume you are looking at when you place them.

Hi, I recently started using Freesurfer and I have a quick question
about adding control points. I want to add control points to a
stretch of white matter which was excluded - can I add them to the
wm.mgz volume by referring to the T1 aux or do they need to be
added to the brainmask volume only?
