Hi David,

When using Apt, you would install packages with:

apt-get install <package name>

Or search for packages with

apt-cache search <search term>

If you're not root, you'll need to stick "sudo " in front of those command. Honestly, you might want to find a better tutorial with explicit command-by-command instructions.

Good luck!

Greetings – I am trying to startup a freeSwitch on a P4 running Ubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty”. I know very little about Linux. I decided to try this after reading the article in Linux Pro Magazine. I have been following the detailed instructions in the wiki for using Ubuntu Jaunty, however I have run into an unknown – “Use your favorite APT utility to get the needed packages”. I am good at following direct instructions – but this statement is too vague for my minimal minimal – did I mention minimal - knowledge of Linux.

Could someone please give me detailed instructions on how to use APT utility to get the needed packages – and what are the needed packages?
Thanks kindly,

David
