One way an open standard could compete is to outperform the incumbent analog and newer digital standards by a wide margin.
David,
I'd like to put together a brochure for Hamvention. This would explain to the mildly-technical hams the benefits of Codec2. Statements like "Codec2 has a 12 dB advantage over narrow-band FM, as if you gave an FM station 4 times the power" are important. Graphics are important too. So, I'd appreciate if you and anyone else can send me graphics and explanations that the common ham has a hope of understanding. What I'm currently missing are how its bandwidth compares to other modes (FM, D-STAR, MOTOTRBO) and what you get for the same power vs. those modes. I can explain the rest.
Thanks
Bruce
