You continue to impress me, David.  I didn't catch on on this topic
until I read this -- and I'm surprised how close this is to DVB-T
in design.

Is this also why there were references to DVB-T in this thread?  I cannot
judge if low-cost DVB-T hardware can be made to work at these audio/modem
frequencies by changing their tuner/antennae, but it could also be a
hardware implementation alternative.  Hardware implementation being lower
in energy cost -- or in terms of the VillageTelco, probably smaller solar
panel area.  At least, for the reception side.
