Hi David and list,

Am I correct in understanding that the fft in fdmdv.c
when used to modulate, creates both real and imaginary,
but that the file output ONLY uses the real component?

If that is correct, would the imaginary component be
the "Q" channel, and if that was output, I could drive
the I input of a simple SDR radio and Q with the imag
I could generate a "SSB" copy of the modem output.

I am aiming at something extremely simple that could be
used with crystal or a signal generator to create a test signal.
This would make it easier to test the whole, without
creating a lot of QRM, just feed the I + Q from the PC
sound card to two sampling mixers.

There are *many* such SDR TX designs on the net.

Even simpler:

Feed the existing FDMDV modulating signal to the IF port
of a DBM, and a suitable RF signal to the RF port. This
will create two copies of the signal, (DSB) where one
is "mirrored", but a SSB rig will only care about one sideband.

Just some thoughts on testing..
