I think this is a great idea, Let's not forget to define some kind of 
identifier for the FEC and interleaving schema, so the receiver has a 
clue about what it is looking at.

Which makes me wonder: Will there be some kind of link establishment 
phase with negotiation of code sets to be used, or is this all 
self-contained in a header at the beginning of each transmission? With 
the latter, one could conceivably change code sets with every 
transmission, based what was learned about the channel during receive.
