As far as I am aware, soft float is not sufficient. However, there are $5
processors with hard float now. A radio not using the modules that Chris uses
in the prototype might have only one powerful ARM, more bits in the DAC/ADC
(the module has 8 bits each on I and Q), and a smaller gate array (because the
more complicated modems and codecs will probably not ever make it to a gate
array implementation).
